March 7-8, 2019

The Atlantic Council, together with the U.S. Embassy to Belgium, the U.S. Mission to the EU, and the U.S. Mission to NATO, hosted #DisinfoWeek Brussels at the SQUARE Brussels Convention Center (Glass Entrance, Mont des Arts, 1000 Brussels).

As state and non-state actors seek to influence Western democracies through targeted disinformation campaigns across multiple media environments, policymakers in Europe, the United States, and around the world are recognizing the growing threat to international security. To buttress governmental efforts, civil society groups, investigative journalists, think tanks, and tech platforms are also developing tools and tactics for countering and exposing disinformation narratives. In an effort to advance the transatlantic partnership on countering disinformation, the Atlantic Council and its partners brought these groups together for a dialogue on the actors and tools involved in this space, and to discuss potential solutions.

#DisinfoWeek in Brussels gathered experts from governments, civil society, and tech platforms to develop tools and tactics for countering disinformation narratives. Find out more about our speakers.
